    Trend Guide for Brides

With our fair share of weddings (another of VitaminDaily.com's own gets hitched in Hawaii next month), we know what it takes to plan a tony trip down the aisle. Herewith, a few matrimonial tips to make your big day tops in 2011:

Internetspiration: Hitting the web on your lunch break in search of table setting ideas? Add Style Me Pretty to your bookmarks, especially for their “Inspiration to Reality” series, which showcases real weddings from mood board to big day. www.stylemepretty.com

Groom garb: Brown is out and black is expected. Get him and his groomsmen to opt for well-fitted suits in a lighter shade of grey, it’s positively fresh.

Dress Yes: A fit and flare gown (like the Lazaro dress pictured, from Bisou Bridal) is the style du jour. They give the indecisive bride the best of both worlds—sensually sleek on top, princessy sweet on the bottom. Kate Middleton take note.

Cinematic memories: The only person who should have to watch four hours of wedding footage is the talented editor you hire to create a sweeping short film of the special moments and dramatic details. Check out the one Americana Cinema made for Coco Rocha: www.vimeo.com/14245277

Snappy snaps: There’s disposable cameras, but then you have to develop all that film. Instead, have a company like Snapbox bring in a photobooth. Guests get old-school photo strips a la Amélie then and there, you get copies too and a digital CD to keep. www.snapbox.ca

Bake-away: Give guests a whole baker’s dozen by making ready-to-bake cookie mixes in mason jars as your DIY wedding favour.

    Inside Edition

Snooping inside other people’s homes is considered uncouth, but when you’re a photographer with a flock of famous friends you make a blog out of that boorish behaviour and we adore you.

Todd Selby is that lensman-cum-blogger and he’s turned his popular website into a book. The Selby Is In Your Place takes you inside the weird and wonderful homes of muses, models, DJs and fashion designers. We learned all kinds of things about a few of our favourite personalities, like Karl Lagerfeld’s love for books is ceiling-high and Lou Doillon collects taxidermy.

It’s permissible to be a peeping Todd.

    Kid Grids

So your kid grows up to be the next Damien Hirst. You'll want to be able to point to the evidence that was there all along.

While you may be honing little Lilly's art portfolio and photo-documenting young Allistair's every quirk, you'll never have the time to put it all together in an interesting way.

Enter visual artist Scott Morgan, whose new Kid Grids are the ultimate in artsy anthropology.

He'll set up a mini-studio in your house, sequester your youngsters, and get them to be themselves with all the stuff they love, be it crafts, clothes, toys or, who knows? Sharks in formaldehyde? Here's hoping.

Shoots available in all major Canadian cities. Learn more at www.scottmorgankids.com

    Snap To It

When Polaroid announced last year it would stop producing their instant film, we started to weep, well, instantly. Documenting road trips would no longer have that certain retro je ne sais quoi.

That was, until we stumbled upon a simple-to-use free software called Poladroid, which makes our modern day digital memories look exactly like the cool, classic snaps—no film required.

Download and open the program (cleverly made to look and sound like a Polaroid camera), drag and drop your photos into it and poof, a little white-rimmed Polaroid appears on your desktop. Just like the real thing, you wait and watch the photo faintly appear as it develops. The end result even mimics the saturation and soft contrast of the old school original.

Go ahead, shake it like a Polaroid picture.

Watch a demo of the program here. Download for free at www.poladroid.net

    BE A VV GIRL!

Ever watch America’s Next Top Model and think, I could do that! (Pose like a pro we mean, not put up with Tyra’s inane comments.)

VitaminV.ca is on the search for fun and fabulous girls to be the new look on our website for a year. You don’t need Heidi Klum’s bod (and please, no Naomi Campbell tempers): We want girls who are comfortable in their own skin and love having their photo taken.

Thirty lucky girls will be chosen for a professional photo shoot with fashion photographer Evaan Kheraj, including hair and make-up styling, a swag bag from our sponsors, a chance to mingle with our editors and other subscribers and a souvenir shot from the shoot.

    Now strike a pose.

To enter our "Be a VV Girl!" contest, simply send a picture of yourself to the Vitamin V page on Facebook. All chosen models must be available the evening of November 19th and 20th.
