House Call
We all remember the Fairy Godmother, but no one gives credit to the little friends that helped Cinderella get ready for the ball (it was Jaq and Gus, by the way).
When we needed an at-home pedi, pronto, it was Amanda from SpaMobile to the rescue. With a full service aesthetics menu (nails, facials, waxing), Amanda will bring everything she needs to your door (including OPI polish and a stack of magazines) and set you up comfortably in your own home or office. Perfect for women with jam-packed schedules or limited time to leave the house for appointments, in-your-living-room spa services just might be the final frontier of private pampering.
And in this modern day fairytale, the two mice are replaced with your gay besties and the glass slipper is now a YSL pump, which you slipped on yourself, of course. —Maria Tallarico

Tootsie Bar
Yaletown needs another nail bar like it needs another purse dog, right?
Not so fast. While we all have our favourite spots for speed, colour choice, ease of getting an appointment, and of course, price, what about pampering?
The new Nailpolitan not only does a bullet-proof pedicure (from $35) in record speed, but the aestheticians wrap your calves in steamy towels for a soothing break.
All the better for chasing that pesky little pooch of yours.

breathe deeply
We were first through the door yesterday at Breathe Spa's beautiful new buzz-in location in the historic Roger's Building. Here's 5 things we loved.
1. Once a 1911 barber shop, the spa features black-and-white mosaic floors, white marble pillars, Victorian-era decorative mirrors and ornately detailed high ceilings—all original and restored to stunning, buttercream-icing effect
2. Five sparkling treatment rooms, each with its own chandelier—and ample space to change into your gorgeous robe in private.
3. Breathe's famous facials (formerly a socialite secret) that will make you glow like an angel.
4 Pedicures using Zoya non-toxic polishes (developed by a Russian pharmacist for his pregnant wife) with 132 colours to choose from.
5. A sumptuous all-white waiting area and Old English sideboard reception desk where reloadable gift cards are now on offer for your better half to pick up in a snap. Hit "forward," subject line "pretty, please"

FEET FIRST
The shoe sale at Holts is in full swing, but your little tootsies would look so much better in those half-price Loubs with a little primp and polish.
Enter the cool oasis of the new Holts Salon and Spa where there are as many pedicure choices as you have toes.
We chose the Hot Lava Mud pedicure ($75), in which minerals and organic mud were painted on our feet with an artist's paintbrush as we sipped strawberry-infused water.
After a few minutes in electric booties, a peach paraffin dip ($15), and a coat of ultra-shiny Essie polish, we were more than ready to hit the escalator and fight for those size 7s.
Pedicures are $50-$75. Holts Salon and Spa, 737 Dunsmuir St., 604-681-3121, www.holtrenfrew.com

downtown diva den
When a boutique hotel turns down an offer to become a member of the prestigious Relais & Chateaux organization because it doesn't need the business, well, that's class for you.
Just like you would totally turn down a first date with Jude Law on account of not needing the attention.
The latest addition to the newly revamped Wedgewood Hotel is its cute little second storey spa with an open-air courtyard.
Although the hotel offers afternoon-tea and spa packages, we think a post-pedicure martini in the Bacchus Lounge is a far lovelier option.
Especially for busy women like you who consider a facial and manicure just two more appointments in your work week.
Pencil yourself in.
