“Busy people, women who don’t like to put on a lot of makeup, and new moms, those are the people who like this service.” explained MJ from MJ Bataa Beauty about her eyelash extensions.
And since this editor ticks all of these boxes, we were sold. Based in Coal Harbour (although they also offer a mobile service), this salon offers a variety of eyelash extensions, including a natural or red carpet application, using either synthetic or real mink lashes. The process takes around 90 minutes, and is painless (we could have probably power napped through it.) You can’t get them wet for 48 hours, but after that, maintenance is pretty easy and we hardly notice they are on (aside from a few seconds of discomfort when putting in our contact lenses.)
Lasting up to eight weeks if cared for properly, the lash extensions mean we’re saving precious minutes every morning. Less dark circles and gorgeous eyelashes – this editor almost feels glamorous again! — Alexandra Suhner Isenberg

Finally, collaboration by the Kaiser that’s as adorable as his beloved kitty cat, Choupette.
Meet the Mon Shu Girl, mischievous little face of Karl Lagerfeld’s Shu Uemura holiday collection. Curious why Shu and not Chanel? Well, Karl has been using Shu Uemura pigments for years to do all his illustrations. Straight from Kaiser’s brush and onto our eyes and lips, we love the deep hues of the Prestigious Bordeaux ($85) eye and cheek palette, the Karl Black ($20) golden speckle nail polish, and the vivid Mon Shu Red ($31) lipstick that the Mon Shu Girl wears.
Although, what we really want to know is: Which colour is Choupette’s favourite? —Anya Georgijevic

We passed on Katy Perry’s blue mane, but we’re welcoming blue eyelashes with eyes wide open.
So much so that we’re giving this F/W 2012 beauty trend a head start. Taking cues from Stella McCartney’s runway, the look is best welcomed with a fresh face, letting the eyes speak for themselves. Too blue? Mix it up for a subtler look: one coat of blue and one coat of black. —Anya Georgijevic

When the sun starts making repeat appearances, our patience with make-up application plummets.
So into our beach bag goes tinted moisturizer with sunscreen, lip balm and Clinique Quick Eyes. The cream shadow comes in a small tube and applies with a wand, just like lip gloss. In pretty and shimmery shades that layer and last all day, its ideal for transitioning us from a day at the pool to a night on the town with minimal effort. And for more glam occasions it acts as the perfect primer to make our other shadows stay put.
When they ask where we got that sparkle in our eye, we’ll credit the summer fling.
