A Wee Workshop
Soon, reindeer hooves will be clicking up on the rooftops.
And you still haven’t checked everyone off your holiday list. What’s a gift-giver to do? Stop into Tiny Finery, a pintsized boutique that’s just moved to Hastings. Part shop, part workshop, its walls are lined with locally made jewelry, ceramics and nifty gifty things. Between that and the East Village Bakery next door, you’ll be able to pick up everything you need for the holiday party you’re dashing off to. —Kelsey Dundon2162 E Hastings St. Vancouver, 604-569-2171, http://tinyfinery.ca

It's Taco Time
Tacofino Commissary adds to the fast-developing food destination that is East Village (formerly known as Hastings Sunrise).
Its new sleek but rustic space captures the charm and ease of their Mexican-inspired West Coast fare. Take a seat under the smart light-meets-flora ceiling installation by Bocci’s Omer Arbel and enjoy Tacofino’s take on the famous Moscow Mule cocktail with a tequila twist, the Mexican Mule ($8). Along with food truck favourites such as the Fish Taco ($5), the menu includes sharing plates like the spicy Cauliflower ($8) sprinkled with bits of crispy rice, and the Surf & Turf ($12), featuring the revelation that is deep fried lemon. Yes, we'll share if we have to. —Anya Georgijevic
