    Big Kid Beds

Designing a nursery is easy. There is a ton of choice, and let’s face it, babies don’t really notice their rooms.

Decor gets more complicated for children and teens. Kids need a space that reflects their personality and style, but without compromising the taste of their parents. Which is why it came as great news that PB Teen now ships internationally.

The PB stands for Pottery Barn, and the stock reflects that: stylish and reasonably priced. The site sells great bedding and bathroom accessories but the study spaces are probably our favourite.

Now you won’t feel bad for sending them to their room. —ASI

    Fountain of Youth

Before we were big girls we stole beauty products from our older sisters, but as adults we’re borrowing something from the adolescent set.

The Clean Start line of skin care by Dermalogica was made for teens, with their propensity for problem skin, which makes it perfect for summer. Our tried and tested faves are Ready, Set, Scrub!, a three-in-one purifying clay and cooling menthol mask plus silica scrub, All Over Clear, a refreshing spray toner, and Welcome Matte SPF15, a lightweight oil-controlling moisturizer.

It won’t make you look 15 again, but that’s a good thing.

    teen spirit

Trying to figure how to get your teens out of their bedrooms this summer?

Send them to Paris! This teen travel company will take your budding fashionista to a real fashion atelier for a sneak preview of designer collections being made, then to a fashion show, after which she’ll hit the couture circuit and secret discount shopping spots. Next up: architectural tours of Luxemburg Gardens, the Louvre and L’Arc de Triomphe. Tomorrow: cooking lessons with a real French chef.

Consider it summer school: The Sun Also Rises is just so much more interesting when you know where Hemmingway wrote it, and the French

Revolution is terribly relevant after you’ve strolled through the Place de la Concorde. And French classes, well now that’s a piece of cake.
