    Into the Blue

We passed on Katy Perry’s blue mane, but we’re welcoming blue eyelashes with eyes wide open.

So much so that we’re giving this F/W 2012 beauty trend a head start. Taking cues from Stella McCartney’s runway, the look is best welcomed with a fresh face, letting the eyes speak for themselves. Too blue? Mix it up for a subtler look: one coat of blue and one coat of black. —Anya Georgijevic

    Palette Perfect

With the camel coats and chubby knits of the fall collections arriving in stores, visions of soft smoky eyes and flushed cheeks are beginning to dance in our heads.

On the latter we’ve fallen for the new Nars eye and cheek palette Only You ($75). Packed inside a sleek and secure zip-up compact, the palette is armed with four fab shadows, including a metallic neutral, matte black, golden espresso and aubergine, and loaded with its Hungry Heart highlighter and Orgasm blush.

Perfect for popping in your purse, it’ll take you from Donna Karan by day to Alexander Wang after dark.

    Gosh that's Good

Getting caught in the pouring rain hunting for your runaway cat with a handsome man (it happened in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, it could happen to you)—there’s an eyeliner for that.

On the rave recommendation of a make-up artist, we tried the extreme art eyeliner ($16) from GOSH and it passed our drenched test with flying colours. In an array of fetching hues, we keep a few on hand to use alone or blend together, like Deep Sea 10 and Black 07 for a pretty shade of navy. Since its claim of “extremely waterproof” is completely true, you’ll need a good eye make-up remover like Lancome Bi-Facial to remove it at the end of day.

So whether your movie moment involves a downpour or glamorously emerging from the waves, at least you won’t have to worry about smudgy liner causing a scene.
