Give Mother Earth a big organic smooch this week.
The new Whistler-based cosmetics line Lippy Girl has a line of cruelty-free and vegan lipsticks in seven vibrant shades, each concocted with organic beeswax and jojoba, grape and castor seed oils. Living up to its name, each colour sports a sassy name like the fuchsia Vexy Vixen, the flaming red Mother Pucker, and this editor’s favourite, the neon pink Sassy Ass. —Anya Georgijevic

We love a woman that rocks a red lipstick. True bright red exudes confidence like nothing else.
Just ask our girl crush Jenna Lyons, J.Crew’s creative director and the epitome of American chic. Always incredibly polished, yet understated, Jenna’s preferred red is Heat Wave by Nars ($24 at Nars). Another lady known for her perfect red pout is the ever-so-cool Gwen Stefani, who wears L’Oreal’s Infallible Le Rouge Lipstick in Ravishing Red ($13 at Shoppers Drug Mart). But let’s not forget the original red, Revlon’s Fire and Ice ($8.99 at Shoppers Drug Mart), the famous shade worn by the iconic Marilyn Monroe.
See the pattern? When in doubt, go for red. —Anya Georgijevic

What’s not to love about a product that’s a balm, a lipstick and a gloss all in one, is organic, comes in a slick little package and calls Vancouver its home?
Sounds almost too good to be true but, rest assured, it does exist. Meet ILIA. Born out of a dream for absolute product purity, ILIA gathers the best from the natural world and the world of luxury beauty. Starting with a range of six terrific shades including the soft rose “Nobody’s Baby” and the passionate red “Bang Bang,” we are well on our way to organic bliss. —AG

When launching a new lipstick, most cosmetic companies would publish a flashy advertising campaign and call it a day. But Dior is no ordinary cosmetic company, so for the launch of their new Dior Addict Ultra Gloss lipstick, they made a short film starring Kate Moss looking fabulous, as usual.
The new Dior Addict Ultra Gloss is balm, gloss, and lipstick combined into one. It moisturizes, leaves a glossy finish and comes in shades like Singuliere (a sun pop pink), Paris (a shimmery pink) and Casual Beige. We love a product that gets us closer to Kate. —ASI

Whether nude to offset a smoky eye or bold to steal the show—matte lipstick is making the rounds from runways to red carpets. Much to our delight we needn’t go farther than the local drugstore to find a fetching formula.
The new collection of matte lipsticks from Revlon has dually impressed us by going on ridiculously smoothly and staying put. Of the 10 on-trend colours, we’re currently switching between the pink that pops (“Pink About It”) and red that’s right out of Mad Men (“Really Red”)—each just $10 a tube.
That’s a cheap kiss we can get behind.
