    Intouchables: *** !

    On adore.

While the glitterati are flocking the French Riviera, we’ve had our nose pressed against la vitrine at Beaufort Décor.

This pretty east end shop stocks French-inspired homewares like black and white toile-patterned plates, apothecary jars ($20) and red metal lanterns that have us dreaming of al fresco evenings in Provence. We also fell for a repurposed Chippendale chair painted jonquille and geometric-print Alexandra Rose pillows (from $20) designed by the owner’s daughter.

    Oliver, with a Twist

It’s our annual Okanagan hot sheet!

    Taste
As if it weren’t enough that Church and State has built an architecturally spectacular tasting room (witness the glassed-in barrel room), it is soon to open a patio with an ice bar to keep you (and your glass of Cuvée) cool this summer. www.churchandstatewines.com

    Stay
At Spirit Ridge, perched in the hills just above Lake Osoyoos, it’s not unusual to see people on their balconies for hours, gazing out at the stunning mountain, lake and vineyard views. Even better with glass of N’Kmip Pinot Noir in hand. Oh, is it only 10 a.m.? www.spiritridge.ca

    Dine
The new Mica restaurant at Spirit Ridge brought in a stellar team to create “wine country comfort food” using high quality local ingredients: a round of Butcher’s Burgers on the patio sounds good to us. www.spiritridge.ca

    Do
The family-owned organic Covert Farms has just launched a new wine label featuring the dramatic McIntire Bluff and the Nighthawk – both features of the bucolic property. With an on-site casual restaurant with patio, organic fruit and veggies, plus kids activities and organic farming camps, it’s the perfect answer to wine tasting with wee ones. www.covertfarms.ca

    I Do
The remodeled Silvery Sage winery is a popular spot for weddings and it is easy to see why: beautiful landscaping, rose-lined walkways, and weeping willows. We do! www.silversagewinery.com —Sarah Bancroft

    Weekend Warrior

If it weren’t for so many events happening in the city, we’d be heading off-island to enjoy our weekend. Here are three superb reasons to stay put.

    Home inspiration
We’re craving a springtime spruce-up for our home and getting insider insight from top designers on Saturday, May 26th at the Montreal International Design show ($20 per adult).

    Museum crawl
One day, 29 museums, zero dollars. Sunday, May 27th is Montreal Museums Day and while we’re on the fence about whether we’ll choose one of six circuits (complete with transportation) or freestyle according to our fancy, we know we’ll discover some new gems along the way.

    Get your garden on
For urban gardening tips and tricks (ie. can I actually grow tomatoes on my postage stamp sized patio?), we’re heading to the 15th Great Gardening Weekend ($15 per adult) at the Montreal Botanical Garden where 100 exhibitors will be on hand to answer our questions and show off their wares. —Christine Laroche

    Pop Goes the Shop

Take a seat at the new pop-up shop Sit from the stylish folks behind Domicile Interiors.

Sit carries well-designed, accessible items targeted to those of us looking to graduate from Ikea, but not quite ready to take the plunge into Herman Miller.

Curated like a lifestyle magazine, stock will rotate new local, national and international retailers each month, while local arts groups, community organizations, chefs and designers will provide weekly programming.

This store introduces quite the conundrum. It helps us furnish our homes with everything we need to never leave, but we also might want to spend all of our free time in the store. —Jaelyn Molyneux

    Roll Out The Barrel

American retailers seem to place la belle province last on their must-expand-to lists, but finally the wait is over for this much-anticipated opening.

Tomorrow morning, Quebec’s very first Crate and Barrel store will open at Carrefour Laval. A full range of the retailer’s covetable wares – from bedding and linens to furniture and stemware – will be on offer in the sprawling 25,000 square foot space (that used to belong to les Ailes de la Mode).

Our apartment is about to undergo a serious makeover as we say bienvenue to Crate & Barrel! —Christine Laroche

    Building Toronto

If you know more facts about Ghery’s Guggenheim than the AGO, and the last time you looked up at the Graduate House was on a drunken night in 1999, then it’s time to take a tour of your local architecture.

Margaret and Phil Goodfellow’s Guide to Contemporary Architecture in Toronto ($24.95) is all the inspiration you’ll need to map out your tour. From private residences (the Levitt Goodman house on Euclid) to eye-popping landmarks (the Eatonville Public Library), this handy book is packed with exquisite buildings you’ve likely walked past, but never even seen.

Case in point: I’m a stone’s throw from U of T and only just discovered the “Trinity College Quadrangle.” —Athena Tsavliris

    Claire Boucher (alias Grimes)

    Message in the Bottles

From foot lotions to headache soothing potions, find the all-natural solution to what ails you at The Apothecary in Inglewood.

This new store is in the old heritage building where All Things Jill and Rae Dunphy Aromatics mix and manufacture their wellness products. Think bath bubbles, cuticle gels and shaving cream.

Purchase essential oils from the rows of little bottles lining the shelves and blend them into personalized scents to infuse your home or car. Depending on your blend it could relax or invigorate.
