We Love: This Movie is Broken
Your favourite band, one last night in the city and your crush—could one amazing gig convince you to stay?
Opening tomorrow, This Movie is Broken shows off all the things we love about Toronto in the summer. (Spot The Drake Hotel, Trinity-Bellwoods, the Harbourfront and more in the rock show romance.) Greg Calderone stars as Bruno, the smitten boy, and Georgina Reilly is Caroline, the longtime object of his affection. With music by Broken Social Scene and set against the backdrop of one of their most memorable outdoor concerts, the flick is our summer fix. This Movie is Broken opens tomorrow in select Toronto cinemas, www.thismovieisbroken.com

EYESORE IT!
Film buffs will be impressed by the selection at Eyesore Cinema—a new indie rental store stacked with over 3,000 weird and wonderful titles.
Don’t expect to find Indiana Jones or Carrie Bradshaw at this place. It’s the lesser-known characters that get the spotlight. Think Japanese horror-thrillers (The Suicide Song) and ’80s sci-fi action (I Come In Peace).
Watch this space.

WRITER'S JOURNEY
When Persepolis premiered at Cannes last May, the audience applauded for 20 minutes.
Based on Marjane Satrapi’s comic-book memoirs of growing up in Iran during the Islamic revolution, this wonderful black-and-white animation won the Prix du Jury and is a contender for Oscar.
We know where we’ll be on Christmas Day.
Release date December 25, 2007.

MOVIE REVUE
Local cinephiles are reeling with delight over the re-launch of Roncevalles beloved Revue Cinema.
After all, nothing beats the charm, intimacy and nostalgia of an old movie house.
A bright new future includes kids’ programs, a book-to-film series, small festivals plus plenty of themed nights like the upcoming Halloween screening of an original 35mm print of Evil Dead.
Sharpen those fangs for some serious back row necking.
