Just another mani monday
From moon manis to minx to crystal studded acids, who needs accessories when you’ve got statement talons?
Yeah, around here, we love our weekly manicures. But when we’re pushed for time, stick-on polish is the next best thing. We’ve tried a few, and Sephora’s are by far the easiest to apply. Stick, snip and file. They last a few days and come in an assortment of prints (leopard is the cat’s meow). —Athena Tsavliris

By the light of the moon
You’ve made a few resolutions—one is to stop gnawing your nails. Just imagine the fun you could have with ten healthy talons.
At Tips Nail Bar you could try a half moon manicure made de rigueur again by burlesque style icon, Dita Von Teese. Her mother was a manicurist so she knows a thing or two about nail art, and this look is pure retro glam. Another popular treatment at the Greektown mani heaven is shellac. This two-week manicure comes in fourteen colours and won’t chip, smudge or damage your nails.
Go on, nail that resolution.

Hello Yellow
Yellow is notoriously tricky to wear (Malvolio’s yellow stockings spring to mind), but a sunny shade on your talons is a sure way to add zing to any look.
We’ve searched far and wide for the zaniest hue, (£13) and our vote goes to Illamasqua. They call it ‘lemon sorbet’, but we think it looks like egg yolk. That's sunny side up for us.

Lunchtime Fix
Flesh-toned shades will rule for spring and we know where we’re taking our talons.
At their little hole-in-wall mani/pedi joint, Anna and Kelly of Signature Nails are the only gals we trust to file, buff and polish our nails to hand-model perfection. The treatments are quick, thorough, and fabulously affordable ($50 for fingers and toes) and the place is so clean we’d happily walk around barefoot.
Expect to spot many a MuchMusic VJ (it’s steps away from the studio) popping in for a midday mani.

Please Spa Me
This time of year, it’s not just the prego-set that grumble about brittle nails, achy bones and ballooning feet. Couldn’t we all use a little scrub, rub and pummel?
Conceived with Mother's in mind, (but not exclusive to) the new Sunny Mummy Spa + Boutique offers head-to-toe treatments that leave you feeling soft, soothed and utterly relaxed. Services include Reiki, ($100/hour) Shiatsu, ($80/hour) Reflexology, ($80/hour) manis ($30) and pedis ($45) with on-site kiddie caregivers there to help you indulge in peace.
A selection of organic baby blankets, creams, bubbles and onesies fill the foyer and Aveda is the product of choice.
Pssst: Mother’s Day is May 10 (pass it on!).
