Bed-in honeymoon
Days are getting shorter and the weather is grim. Best take cover under a warm and generous blanket.
MacAusland's 100 per cent virgin wool blankets (Queen, $87) are a very good reason to stay in bed. Untreated, un-dyed and available in simple patterns, each cozy blanket is handcrafted on Prince Edward Island at the old MacAusland family mill.

Swaddled with Information
Dealing with a newborn, especially your first, is a challenge and a half. Thank goodness for doctors, midwives, moms and books to guide us through those first few months.
But what about those who don’t have access to that much needed information? The Information Blanket is a newborn blanket with basic info on size, feeding, and illness warning signs. Buy one for yourself, and they will send one to a country with a very high infant mortality rate.

Blanket Statement
Roll out the red blanket for summertime.
It's picnic season and we've found the prettiest spreads at SewnNatural, a popular Ottawa-based Etsy shop. Mother-daughter makers Jen and Jane use eco fabrics with vintage patterns, like Marimekko's vermilion poppies, in all their designs. Quilted, sturdy and big enough for lovers, each blanket rolls into a carry-on bundle.

Security Blanket
First there was the Snuggie (a sleeved blanked), then there was the Slanket (a giant sleeved blanked)—yes, it's hard to tell the difference between the two. But for a unique way to stay cozy, don the Seapelt.
Made from 100 per cent Icelandic wool and available in four stylish color combinations, the Sealpelt will literally have you covered from head to toe. Now that's a wrap.

O is for Olivia
You spent months agonizing over the perfect baby name.
And with this season's collegiate trend, monograms are de riquer. From cotton blankets emblazoned with initials ($115) to monogrammed cable knit baby jumpers ($49.99 with embroidery), these customized knits will do little Liam and Ella proud. And when you look back at the pictures 20 years from now, there's no mistaking who's who.

Lay out with Linen
With some fab finds, one just isn’t enough.
That’s how we feel about this luxurious alternative to terry beach towels—the linen Deck Towel. Lightweight and large, each throw measures nearly 2m by 1.5m and can absorb nearly twenty times its weight in water, plus sand doesn't stick. Putting practicalities aside, the main draw is the incredible fabric. Fall in love with the bright hues of ico, the bold stipes of boudewijn, or the more subtle shades of enzo. If, like us, you can’t decide, order two. Keep one for the beach and picnics, and another for your bedspread or kitchen table, as an off-registry wedding gift or just wrapping up with your man on a chilly night of gazing at the stars.
From US$50 at www.decktowel.com or order by phone from Old Faithful Shop in Vancouver, 778-327-9376.
