Bling my Belle
If ever there was a time to wear sequins, it is now. And thanks to a new bling boutique on Bay, your phone, laptop and specs can join in on the fun as well.
At the Bling DIY Studio anything you desire can be customed in swarovski crystals –frosting for your phone (from $249) or diamonds on the doggie bowl (from $80) perhaps?Sure, it’s a little ‘Kimora,' but hey, it’s Christmas—a time for peace, joy and gaudiness.

Power of One
Fashion people know the power of a signature accessory. For Coco Chanel, it was strands of pearls—for Iris Apfel it’s her round, oversized glasses.
Make a statement this winter with a single, standout accessory. At new bauble boutique Coco & Jules you’ll find lots to inspire you. Owner Diana Dowson has assembled a delightful mix of pieces from ornate deco-style chandelier earrings ($100-$500) to playful Alice bands and feathered berets ($18-$50) to striking cuffs, rings and necklaces by Myka ($40-$300).
Our signature accessory is a memorable scarf, and between the Peruvian alpaca wool shawls ($100-$200) and gorgeous cashmere Tilo scarves ($50-$250), there are plenty to choose from.
Not yet got yours? Let Coco & Jules help you decide.

Buzzworthy
The craft-loving shopper has no shortage of options in Toronto, and joining the city’s handmade community is a new boutique boasting bags, belts and baubles from colourful Peru.
Spearheaded by Cynthia Villegas, Lady Mosquito carries boldly-hued wire rings by Lorena Pestana, bright, textural bags from PuroCorazon and eye-popping felt accessories from Vacide Edra.Sure, we’d rather be snapping up handicrafts in Cuzco, but for now, Queen West will happily do.

Bold and the Beautiful
Madrid-born Jaime Galindo’s accessories are wacky and raw but with a sophistication often lost when designers try too hard to push the envelope.
But if his sculptural headpieces (helmets covered in studs, fringe and decapitated Barbie dolls) prove too outrageous for your taste, why not consider an attention-grabbing necklace or two? Constructed from zippers, fringe, felt, ribbon, buttons and beads, these wearable works of art ($165-$200) are true conversation pieces. Stand in a corner and watch as the party gravitates towards you.

Japanarama
Known for its cheap eats and charming cafes, Baldwin Village is hardly a destination for cutting edge design. But a new concept store looks set to change that.
With its focus on Japanese product design, Cubeshops is eye candy for lovers of all things quirky and cool. From soap dishes to stress balls to chopsticks and umbrella stands, function meets design at this carefully curated boîte. We loved the paint tube doorstoppers ($8) and manhole shaped floor cushions ($50).
While most products are for the home, Shoichi Aoki fans will love the fashion accessories still to come.

Head Strong
Ask a little girl what she wants to be when she grows up and you can hear any response from “Princess” to “Prime Minister.”
Equal parts poised and pretty, the cotton knit giant paiettes headband with an embellished flower (US$40) from e-shop Kicokids is serious enough for tough tea party talks and whimsical enough for playing dress-up.And she’ll always have a good head on her shoulders.

Treasure Hunt
Drew Barrymore gave the performance of a lifetime as Little Edie Beale in Grey Gardens, but we were just as taken by the set decorator's impeccable attention to detail.
The crew hunted down as many vintage pieces from the original documentary as they could find. Filmed in and around Toronto, we wonder if they stopped into the Leslieville treasure trove Gadabout for the most obscure items. From Edwardian era fashions and fabrics to retro toys and trinkets, we could spend hours getting lost in Gadabout's staggering collection (including a pillbox hat that cousin Jackie would have adored). Filled with unique gifts, costumes and accessories, it is impossible to leave Gadabout empty-handed. As Little Edie would say, "It's an artistic smash!"

Sartorial Study
Our days of power buying flirty sundresses, pretty patterned linens and bubble glass doorknobs every time we travel stateside are over. Anthropologie has arrived.
Brimming with clothing, accessories, home décor and decorative antiques, the new 8,000 square-foot Toronto store will be a Mecca for every girlie-girl who loves the brand’s feminine, vintage vibe. We can’t wait to get hands on a new floppy brimmed hat, some gorgeous spring linens and a pair of summer flats.
We'll have our PhD in Anthropologie soon enough.
Anthropologie opens tomorrow at the Shops at Don Mills, 1090 Don Mills Rd., Toronto, www.shopsatdonmills.ca

Fit to be Tied
From Amanda Seyfried and Tilda Swinton to Heidi Klum and Jessica Biel, this year stars were all tied up in bows and knots on the red carpet.
The truth is, we never outgrow them, no matter how old we are. Charming and dainty, Devon Dagworthy’s are some of the prettiest we’ve seen. Made from high quality ribbon and embellished with crystals and lace, these lovelies can totally pivot a look. Add grosgrain boating stripes to your simple white tee or accessorize a simple black dress with a giant Saint Laurent-style satin bow.
After all, it’s the bow that makes a parcel a present.

GIRLS OF A FEATHER
You’ll need more than a feather in your cap to be fashionable this winter.
Our nod to the trend comes in the form of a gorgeous feathery fascinator from local designer Lori-Anne Krausewitz.
Inspired by the roaring ‘20s, these delightful plumed headpieces will add instant glam to our holiday look.
Talk about a feather in your cap.
