easter for adults
Stop the presses! We want you to be the first to know about the grand opening of Thomas Haas' new chocolate factory and modern salon au chocolat.
Like something out of Charlie's wildest fantasy, the ceiling is designed like an unfolded chocolate box, and the candy drop glass lamps are imported from Germany. Don't miss the lemon-drop powder room, designed by the same modern mastermind behind Vij's and Rangoli.
In the salon, sample cakes and pastries, espresso and paninis, while watching the chocolates being made in the demonstration kitchen.
Using real fruits, spices and liqueurs-Tahitian vanilla and walnuts from Grenoble if you please-pastry chef Haas' confections are pure works of art. Nothing less would do for Senses, Diva at the Met, Ritz-Carlton hotels and the Four Seasons Maui-all of whom he supplies.
This year, he's vowed to make Easter for adults also-and it helps when the chocolates are packaged in beautiful chartreuse jewellery boxes, orange paper purses, and sleek chocolate brown boxes from the same French maker as Hermes.
Oh, yes, and there are some pretty cute bunnies and chicks should you feel like letting the kids in on the fun after all.
Easter sale starts tomorrow at 10 a.m., and runs through Easter weekend.
Unit 128 - 998 Harbourside Dr., North Vancouver, 604-924-1847.
