wash n’ load
It might take two to tango, but we think the dance of fine laundering works best in threes.
In the name of eco-efficiency (and a very small apartment), we’re thrilled with Purex’s new 3-in-1 laundry sheets (from $6.99). Each contains concentrated detergent, softener and anti-static properties in a single sheet that can be transferred from washer to dryer. We tested one on a week’s worth of whites. Result? Short of our own personal washerwoman, this is as good as it gets.

Down Under
After spending months in musty squalor at the back of the closet, our goose-feather parka is in desperate need of resuscitation
We’re performing emergency CPR with Granger’s eco-friendly Down Wash ($11.95), finally available in Canada. We added this handy little remedy (and our hot-chocolate stained jacket) to a warm-water washing machine. After a low-heat tumble dry, voila! Loft and water-repellency restored, odors eliminated, and we’re ready for the slopes. Inspired by the success of Operation Ski Coat, we may even try to steam vac those marks on the couch. Naaah.

Knit Wit
Nothing is too good for our beloved cashmere and wool sweaters, but we’re not too keen on what dry cleaning does to the environment (and our wallets).
We’re feeling more eco-friendly and eco-nomical since we started using The Laundress Wool & Cashmere Shampoo ($18). Featuring natural cedar extracts, this sulphate-free wash won’t harm our most precious knits: A quick spin on the delicate cycle leaves them soft and fluffy minus the chemical smell. Unsure of your technique? We love this how-to video. Now we’re off to take our sweaters for a spin.
