This is Not a Plastic Baggie
So you gave up on the cloth diapers, forgot to ditch the PBA bottles and didn’t splurge for the bamboo crib set.
Wait! There’s still a chance to reverse your eco-kid karma.
These cheerful Velcro-closure organic cotton snack sacks from Graze Organic are illustrated with water-based dyes and are machine washable, so they can be used again and again.
Now just make sure those veggies are local and the bread’s got ancient grains.

SWEET SPACE
There’s nothing more daunting than finding an original present for the gal who has everything.
We’re stocking up on goodies at Angela MacKenzie’s new eye-catching boutique. Honey Flower is a treasure trove of unique and locally-produced gifts like silk scarf pillows, vases made from fallen wood, and organic cotton stuffed animals. Her beeswax vintage teacup candles will brighten up anyone’s mood ($20), while flax seed and lavender-filled eye pillows are the perfect way to decompress after a long and weary day ($18).
Angela has also expanded her line of natural skincare products to include bath bombs and salts in such sassy scents as Mojito and Flower Candy.
Hmm, perhaps it’s us that need the pressie.

TWINKLE TOES
You’re not quite ready for tights, but those Marni ankle boots are giving you the rub.
Here’s a little tip for easing summer feet into fall footwear: Sprinkle the insides with talcum powder. If you’re like us and hate smelling like a freshly-diapered newborn, try Origins Refreshing Body Powder ($28). Ninety-five per cent certified organic, it doesn’t contain any harsh chemicals and gives off lovely whiffs of lavender, ginger and geranium.
Poof! Blisters begone.

SAFE SIPPY
Sure your mother drove you around with no seatbelt in the front of her Chevy Nova while she fed you pesticide-laden apples and pulled on menthol Benson & Hedges.
“And you’re still alive,” she’ll remind you as she watches you spoon sugar-free carrot cake into baby’s mouth.
But while we can’t protect our little ones from our sordid pasts, the least we can do is let them drink their watered-down organic blueberry juice from a Vancouver-made kid’s-sized PBA-free stainless steel bottle.
And if it’s a nice design? You really only have their best interests in mind.

COOKIE MONSTER
Our naturopath has us on a yeast-free, wheat-free regime that’s made us grumpy, starved, and in a state of constant craving.
Hopelessly roaming the aisles of our neighborhood health food shop, we were ecstatic to discover ShaSha Ginger Snaps ($6.95/340 grams). We just can’t get enough of these all-organic, heart-shaped biccies made from spelt flour, sunflower oil and molasses. Finally, something we can eat, guilt free.
Unfortunately, we’re so full we’ve got no room for the daily teaspoon of fish oil we’re supposed to be taking. Sorry Dr. Block.
