Birds of a Feather
A little birdie told us about the perfect spot to lunch 'n' brunch in bohemian style.
British import Marc Cohen and partner Ethan Wills recently opened their whimsical new eatery The Sparrow and already Plateau hipsters are flocking to the nest for the duo’s affordable gourmet fare.We swooned for the Bleu d’étoile, chicory and walnut salad ($7) and got giddy for the mackerel with celeriac remoulade ($11). A DIY master, Cohen smokes fish and butchers his own meat. When the London native got married at the restaurant in January he made the entire feast from scratch. Ain’t (foodie) love grand?

Paris is Brewing
Watch Top Chef, and you’ll soon learn that culinary prowess can be judged on the basis of a perfectly cooked egg.
When it comes to our own breakfast we’re not quite so fussy, but it’s near perfection at Toi Moi et Café. After Sunday morning trips to the Atwater Market, refuel with the divine Le Parisien which includes mouillettes (strips of baguette) dipped into soft-boiled eggs, or the mouth-watering crêpes et gauffres enveloped in fruit and cream (from $6.50). And, with four pages of fair trade tea and coffee concoctions to choose from, you’ll be infused with enough energy to plan your own cook-off (minus the nasty eliminations).

EDIBLE INCREDIBLE
Instead of bringing Mum the usual bouquet next Sunday, why not feed her florals on a plate?
All of the dishes served at café boutique Fuchsia are made from organic ingredients and locally grown flowers sourced by owner Binky Holleran. Chow down on chickpea couscous salad with orange blossoms, pear and violet sparkler and lavender pecan bars ($10).
Then on your way out buy your mother some artisanal goodies, like edible chai massage bars ($5), organic lavender sugar in pretty mason jars ($8), or cardamom soap with oatmeal ($4).
Good daughter.
