La Vie en Rose
Molly Ringwald positively glowed in it, and here are our top picks for a pink spring:
Rain rain go away! We’ll happily endure spring showers in this Michael by Michael Kors belted Begonia trench with tortoise shell buttons ($275). At Ogilvy, 1307 St-Catherine St. W., 514-842-7711 ext. 306, www.ogilvycanada.com
Seasonally ambidextrous, you’ll live la vie en rose in a Filippa K wrap dress with removable shoulder pads ($249). At JoshuaDAVID, 4926 Sherbrooke St. W., Westmount, 514-788-4436, www.joshuadavid.ca
Alert! Bikini season is near. You’ll actually want to trek to the gym with this poppy Two Step tote (22.99). At www.boutiqueonze.ca
Work on those triceps and you’ll be Michelle Glam-bama beautiful in a black and blush chiffon halter frock from Jacob ($69). 1220 Ste-Catherine St. W., 514-861-9346, www.jacob.ca
If pink just ain’t your bag, take a subtle approach with peppy Joe Fresh nail polishes in Rose, Ballet Slipper or Petal. They’re free from formaldehyde and other nasty toxins. 3/$10 at Loblaws, 6600 St-Jacques St. W., 514-481-6959, www.loblaws.caOctober 27th, 2009
Haunted Hands
We’ve yet to make a costume commitment, but OPI’s Tattoo Ta-Boo! Halloween collection ($14.95) has us screaming with delight.
The formaldehyde-free kit includes bright orange Tattoo You Want Candy?, basic black Witch Arm, I Love Mummy white, and our personal fave, Glow-ink in the Dark purple. Wear individually, or mix and match with tattoo decals for a Frankenstein or pumpkin effect. The kids at the door may not care two bits, but you’ll feel ghoulishly cool handing out candy. Happy Halloween, my pretties!

Better off Red
We adore brightly polished toes peeping out from our platform gladiators, but we never did master the yoga poses required to paint our own.
Instead we’re taking our tootsies to Rouge, a delightful new nailbar on the lower Main. Popping in is easy thanks to the no-appointment-needed policy and affordable prices (mani-pedi combos/$40). We love the hip décor (including original drawings by Leonard Cohen) and the fact that we can buy our own set of tools ($8), stored for future visits. The cherry on the toe? The Escents exfoliants and creams, eco-friendly enough to satisfy our inner-yogi. Now we have something pretty to look at while we practice our forward bends. Om…

COLOUR ME HAPPY
Your accountant has been going over your expenses and unfortunately those weekly manicures at the salon aren’t deductible.
Stay at home and pamper your nails with a shot of pigment-rich colour from Butter London. Apply a little Horse Power Nail Fertilizer ($20) to encourage long, strong nails, and then follow up with a coat of 3 Free Lacquers nail polish ($12). Each gorgeous shade (we particularly like juicy Jaffa) is carcinogen-free and guaranteed to get plenty of attention.
