    Double Delicious

We’ve only just heard that cupcakes and cake pops are considered passé and macarons dismissed as mundane. The only way to stay on top of sweet treat trends is to stick with a classic. The cookie.

Twins Pammy and Mandy are satisfying Montrealers’ cookie cravings with their Twins’ Delights cookie delivery service ($19.99/dozen). We recently ordered the Melange ($23.99), a mix of 15 of the twins’ favourite flavours. We loved the deliciously chewy Chunks of Paradise, filled with chocolate chunks and gooey caramel, and the Pammy, a cinnamon-scented oatmeal cookie filled with plump raisins. But it was the classic Chocoholic that brought out our inner cookie monster.

    Dining Al Desko

Whenever we find ourselves stuffing down a stale salad at our desk, we wonder whether North Americans have gotten the idea of lunch wrong.

We’re looking to India for guidance with Les Tiffins Traiteur, a service delivering delicious hot and healthy lunches in an eco-friendly Indian-inspired Tiffin. We ordered from the mix ‘n match daily menu by 3 p.m. the day before (minimum five Tiffins per delivery), and received a scrumptious meal of chicken parmesan, minted peas, Israeli couscous, and banana cake by around noon the next day, complete with a cloth napkin and stainless steel silverware to boot! All we had to do was rinse out the stackable containers for pick-up the following day.

Leaving us plenty of time to enjoy an afternoon siesta before the boss got back. —JN

    Lunch Rush

Don’t tell our boss, but we start counting the minutes to lunch about 15 minutes after our morning latte.

We’re even more impatient for mid-day now that the Ferreira Group has started their corporate catering service, LunchMontreal.com, delivering recyclable lunch boxes ($18 each, free delivery on orders of 10 or more) in the downtown core. We loved the light Niçoise salad with new potatoes, tangy capers, and freshly seared red tuna and gobbled down the satisfying duck confit wrap with a side of organic quinoa salad. And each meal comes with your choice of fresh fruit salad, natas, or macarons for dessert.

Noon never seemed so far away.

    Delivery Diva

Carrie Bradshaw said it best: “The only thing that I have ever successfully made in the kitchen is a mess.”

Just because we too store pumps in the oven doesn’t mean we don’t crave the odd home-cooked meal. In lieu of culinary duress, we’ve turned to Parentête, a delivery service of freshly made, individually portioned plates by chefanista Rose-Anne Gabriel. Wholesome recipes include turkey lasagna, sweet-potato shepherd’s pie, and tilapia in lemon sauce (from $8.50).

For those of us parenting more than just ourselves, order up family-size portions (from $28) and kid-friendly meals like chicken fingers and pizza pot pie ($6). Menus change weekly and meals are never frozen so all you have to do is pop them in the oven (after you’ve removed your beloved Manolos, of course).

    Room Service

Breakfast in bed? We love the concept but our eggs are runny and day-old bread is dull.

Instead, dial-up freshly baked brioche from Mon Panier Gourmet, a delivery service devoted to the most important meal of the day.   Each of the 20 menus (from $33.99) is made from locally sourced artisanal products and served on a wooden tray.

Go for the Lovely Matinée with fruit salad, honey and almond granola and tropical green tea or the decadent Chocolateful including black chocolate muffins, cappuccinos, granola chocolate bars and fresh orange juice.

If you’re hoping the in-laws won’t stay an extra night, best stick with burnt toast.
