    Bring it On

    At Le Quartier Général, stylish decor, French bistro dishes and locally sourced ingredients are worthy of our impeccable SAQ selection.

    We devoured appetizers like scallops in curried cream sauce and tartare du moment ($9) followed by savory Stanstead rabbit sausages ($29) served tongue-in-cheek with a side of Bugs Bunny carrots. Kalhua cheesecake for dessert?

    Size Matters

    We love the hustle and bustle of a crowded restaurant, but not when we have to shout sweet nothings into our sweetie’s ear.

    When it’s time for some romance, we head over to the Plateau’s Au P’tit Lyonnais. Seating only 30 people, this French bistro is la place ideal for a little flirtation.  Get cozy over duck served with raspberries ($23) or the divine filet mignon paired with a Madagascar green pepper sauce ($23). Falling in love is as easy as ordering the Amour De Cacao ($5.50) for dessert.

    How sweet it is.

    LUNCHTIME LOLL

    Traditionalists maintain that romance is best served by candlelight.

    But since you’re enjoying summer hours, you might as well make the most of your Friday afternoons and enjoy a lingering lunch at Antoine.

    Reserve a space on the intimate terrace and feast on owner-chef Antoine Richard’s divine French food. The lunchtime table d’hôte serves a mixture of classics like bavette with green pepper sauce ($15), while Mediterranean delights include Tagliatelles with calamari, pastis and cherry tomatoes ($14). Make sure to leave room for the Pineapple Poutine ($5.95), a glorious mix of pineapple fries, mascarpone cheese and a light caramel sauce.

    With a lunch menu that changes each fortnight, this might become your new summer hangout— just don’t forget the sun block!
