Let there be light!
We’re celebrating food, music and more at the Montreal High Lights Festival.
This year’s edition pays culinary tribute to Buenos Aires, Philadelphia and the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean region with guest chefs, a featured restaurant and even a cheese competition. Not much of a foodie? There’s a ton of other activities, including ferris wheel rides, awe-inspiring audio-visual shows and, of course, great live music.
A fab festival we plan on enjoying from start (Dumas, tonight) to finish (David Usher, March 2). —Christine Laroche

Laughing All the Way to the Souk
With the Souk at Just For Laughs, the festival has brought some seriously good eats to the party (in addition to the usual giggles).
The Quartier des Spectacles has morphed into a food court populated by trucks serving up affordable and tasty fare ranging from roasted duck and fancy grilled cheese to pulled pork tacos and burgers. Our pick? Nouveau Palais’ all-new Winneburger, though it’s technically a Winnebago, not a truck. We went for the “bédaine de tofu epicée” ($5.75), a filling tofu and pineapple burger with a spicy kick, washed down with lemonade maison ($3).
The foodie festival goes on until July 28 and that’s no laughing matter. —Christine Laroche
