Trim the Fat
Mark Darcy held Bridget’s wobbly bits in high regard, but we’re ready to throw ours off the edge of reason.
We got help with our own unsightly inches at the Institut de Beauté Lorraine Termetz. Its VelaShape treatment uses cellulite-busting technology with rolling sensors to break up fat cells, infrared heat to melt away liquid fat, and bipolar radio frequency to filter toxins on your hips, thighs, buttocks or tummy. After eight pain-free sessions ($190 each) we’d lost a mighty three centimeters off our midsection.V. good! We’re officially tossing the granny pants.

Sugaring Off
Want glowing skin to match your glowing heart?
You'll scrub up well with Maple Sugar Body Scrub from Bella Pella ($19.95). Montreal-made and chemical-free, each batch is made from pure syrup blended with brown sugar, coconut oil and shea butter. It sloughed our winter-worn skin, leaving it silky soft and smelling like a sugar shack. Now we're true north strong and sweet.

Doctor's Orders
We love a deep massage but some leave us feeling more pummeled than placid.
Less is more with Dr. Hauschka Spa’s new Holistic Body Treatment (from $75) designed to tone, energize and boost the immune system using gentle pressure. After a sage and rose-petal foot soak, the therapist applied mood-elevating St. John’s Wort oil to our upper body using circular movements choreographed to our breathing pattern. After rose oil was rubbed into our legs and feet (followed by a ten-minute snooze), we floated out the door in a painless state of bliss.Dr. Hauschka Spa, 1444 Sherbrooke Street W., Montreal, 514-286-1444, www.spadrhauschka.com

Hair Apparent
We look a million bucks leaving the salon, but everyone knows the true test of a good haircut comes after the first wash.
With that goal in mind, each bottle of HerCut Catalyst styling product ($30.80) is formulated to suit your own specific ‘do. The Bob makes hair flow forward just so, The Blunt compresses volume, The Shag pushes strands apart and The Pixie shapes and contours. Full of hope, we applied a few pumps of Long Layers to freshly shampooed hair. Verdict? It makes the cut.

He Sprays, She Sprays
We took an scent census around the office and came up with six lovely pairs of perfumes for him and her. Herewith, our staff picks.
Marianne Wisenthal, Montreal editor, English edition
Couples who spray together, stay together. When we’re not stealing spritzs of our man’s woody Grey Vetivert by Tom Ford ($100), he’s dipping into our bottle of Private Blend Italian Cypress (from $210). Both at Holt Renfrew.
Tara Parker Tait, Publisher
Opposites attract with Parisian cult favourite Annick Goutal's Petite Chérie (finally, she divulges her secret scent!) for her ($110 at the Bay) and the luxe Hermès Poivre Samarcande ($250 at Hermès) for him.
Joy Pecknold, Vancouver editor
For a date night, spritz Viktor & Rolf’s Flowerbomb ($120 at Holt Renfrew), a bouquet of sweet, fruity florals. If the boy shows up smelling of John Varvatos’ Artisan ($70 at Sephora), this relationship may have serious potentional.
Malwina Gudowska, Calgary editor
French girl meets American boy: YSL’s Parisienne ($65) is a match with the masculine John Varvatos Classic ($78). Both at Sephora.
Tonya Albulet, Western Sales Manager
Lalique's Amethyst ($110), with top notes of blackcurrant and blackberry, comes in a bold purple bottle worthy of your nightstand. If your BF wears Lacoste Pour Homme Grey ($75), it's meant to be. Both at Holt Renfrew.
Elsa Vecchi, Montreal editor, French edition
A spritz for you, a dab for him. A summery scent that is fresh and classic, Vétiver by Guerlain is made for a man, but also smells lovely on a lady. $95 at Holt Renfrew.February 1st, 2010
Open Eyes
Between the dry air of winter rads and those late-night CNN marathons, our eyes are as irritated as Wiarton Willie.
On the advice of make-up artist Francine Gagnon, we’ve been lubricating our baby browns with Divine Essence Wild Cornflower Floral Water ($9.95). Blended in France, this chemical-free, mild-smelling infusion is made from the distilled water of organic essential oils that helps reduce redness and puffiness. Before applying makeup, spray over closed eyelids, dab with a tissue and your whites will gleam like fresh falling snow. Maybe now we won’t have to retreat in our burrow for six more weeks. Strip Tweeze
We wouldn’t normally advise you to shape your own eyebrows.
However, between conservative appointments at a brow bar, we like to keep stray hairs in check with a quality pair of pluckers. We’re loving Tweezerman’s slanted new Designer Print Series (from $28) in pretty patterns like hearts, flowers and clouds by Spanish fashion designer Agatha Ruiz de la Prada. Even better? Tweezerman offers free sharpening and tip repair for just $5.But in all your excitement, be sure to think Camilla Belle, not Pammy Anderson.

Eye You Up
We’d never ask to be 18 again but we wouldn’t mind revisiting the skin of our youth.
We’re rolling back the clock with Kinerase’s powerful new Extreme Lift Eye, made from a scientific cocktail of protein, peptides and algae-extract. In five minutes it attacked our crow’s feet and smoothed the skin around our wise ol’ peepers. At $120 it’s no bargain, but it sure beats a visit to Dr. Swift. And we do look a tad like a teenaged version of ourselves (minus the moodiness and braces).

New Year’s Yves
Not even two weeks into 2010 and already we need a nap and a facial.
When it comes to fighting post-holiday fatigue our trusty weapon is Yves Rocher’s new Cure Solutions line. The 24-hr Antioxidant Shield Serum ($56) has an oil-free texture, sweet-smelling Moringa extract and a nourishing barrier that fends off pollutants, ozone damage, free radicals and nasty weather. At night, we love the Vitality Fatigue Fighter ($52) for toning tired skin and reducing redness. Our skin looks great, but we’ll still take the nap.

Back to Basics
After a season of sloth and over-indulgence, it may take a drill sergeant to get us off the sofa.
But we’ve discovered an easier way to burn stress and calories with Powerhouse Hit the Deck. This tiny fitness kit (US$19.99) includes a timer and 35 cards with easy-to-follow interval exercises, including strength training and cardio (no props required). The mighty ambitious can work for 30-minutes straight while the rest of us can ease into our new fitness regime at ten-minute intervals. We especially love that the kit is so small, we can throw it into our suitcase on trips outta town. It’s like our own little bootcamp-in-a-box (without all the screaming).
