Treasure Trove
The second time is always the charm at Mile End boutique Il était deux fois.
This emporium of upcycling sells design-conscious items like pretty serving dishes melted out of wine bottles ($12), candle holders made from bicycle gears, and chrome hubcap wall clocks (from $65). We love the giant mirrors framed in battered hockey sticks (from $200) and the rotary telephone that’s been re-fashioned into a retro-chic clock ($125).
Now if only we could find something to do with the junk in our trunk.
Il était deux fois, 4539 St-Laurent Blvd., Montreal, 514-692-6149.
