Savoury Standing Ovation
Standing ovations tend to be reserved for rockstars and actors, but restaurant Les 400 Coups offered creative cuisine rating a rousing round of applause.
We started by savouring a flavourful and firm seared scallop served with ratte potatoes, eel and tangy black squid ink mayonnaise ($14), and then forked into our main of melting flakes of gooseberry cod with rock shrimp and oyster mushrooms floating in a divine dashi broth ($27). For the grand finale, we chose the Green dessert off pastry chef Patrice Demers’ inspiring list. Light and refreshing with crisp apples covered in creamy white chocolate yogourt, and topped with pistachio, olive oil, and coriander, this sweet treat brought the dining room to its feet.
Literally.
