Something blue invents something new

On the occasion of its 175th anniversary, Tiffany & Co. had to suffer the same conundrum it has inflicted on its adoring gift giving public. How can we possibly top that pretty jewel filled blue box from last anniversary?

Why, fill it with a pretty accessory created from entirely new metal, of course. Move over silver, Tiffany & Co has invented Rubedo, a new metal alloy made from an exclusive combo of gold, silver and copper. It’s light and shiny and being used to craft items from the company’s classic 1837 line including padlock charms, cuffs and interlocking circle necklaces. A limited edition collection engraved with founder Charles Lewis Tiffany’s signature is available for the 2012 anniversary year.

Silver is for 25, gold is for 50 and now Rubedo is today. —Jaelyn Molyneux
