Named for the song that taught us the French word for lark, Gentille Alouette is a new Gastown boutique that’s plucking some pretty things.
The focus is Vancouver-made, and sometimes even made-in-store, with current featured designer Genevieve Graham (of Project Runway Canada fame) dropping in to make her draped dresses right out of the shop. Owner Eliza Lau, a stylist with skills in textiles, shows woven wraps and leather dresses repurposed from vintage garments, and handpicks cool curios like small-scale paintings, handbags, jewellery and even whimsical terrariums.
We think it’s pretty fly.
