Oyster Express
The aptly named Oyster Express is just that: fresh oysters speedily served any time during the day, 8am to 8pm.
The brainchild of a former Rodney’s champion shucker, this little Chinatown spot is a true gem. Clad in floor-to-ceiling plywood, with two round windows, it’s the next best thing to dining on an actual wooden boat. Daily catches count as many as a dozen different oysters, from local varieties such as Kusshi, Royal Miyagi, and Kumamoto, to Washington’s Pacific Virginica and PEI’s Malpeque, all ranging between $1.50-$3.50 a pop. Oysters in the morning? Breakfast of champions. —Anya Georgijevic
