I Feel Like a Natural Woman
We know Koükla (Greek for “my sweetheart”) hair salon has been open for over a year, but when we heard about owner Sia Pettas’ emphasis on natural looks and products (in fact, she refused to do permanent straightening until she found products that fit her philosophy), we had to see this sweetheart of a salon for ourselves.
She was turning a client’s hair from edgy blue-black to a more natural brown when we arrived, so we were more than happy to relax on the lovely backyard terrace, sipping ice cold lemonade. After a thorough wash and an intensive moisturizing hair mask, Sia styled our locks into a shiny, moveable do ($30). We’re considering coming back for the Smooth Infusion Retexturing System by Aveda ($150/hour). Formaldehyde-free and 74 per cent plant-based, this natural system straightens, curls and waves without damaging hair.
We’re ready to go au naturel, hair-wise of course. —Jennifer Nachshen
