Get Her to the Greek
Behind every man is a woman. Or, sometimes, 11.
That is the case in Alberta Theatre Projects’ season opener, The Penelopiad by Margaret Atwood. Based on “The Odyssey,” the tale of Odysseus’s long journey home after the fall of Troy, The Penelopiad, is retold from the point of view of Odysseus’s Penelope and her 10 maids, whom Odysseus has murdered upon his return.
Set in Hades, the show stars Meg Roe (who was marvelous in The Syringa Tree) as Penelope, and focuses on the relationships between her and her attendants.
Runs until October 10, www.atplive.com
