Editor's Picks: Summer Wines

Our editors had the extremely hard job (someone's got to do it!) of sampling some of the summer's best wines. Kick back, raise a glass and discover which vinos made this year's list.

Invited to a summertime dinner party? Start by toasting the chef with a local Crémant de pomme du Minot Sparkling Cider ($10.00). But what you bring to the table will depend on what’s being served.

Sip a lively and fruity Quinta da Aveleda Vinho Verde ($10.80) with your seafood-based appetizers.

Uncork a bottle of Château d'Aussières Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), Corbières AOC ($22.45), with notes of violet, spices, blackberry and licorice to serve with grilled lamb, pork, and sausage.

Throwing a big fat steak on the grill? Fill up your glass with Two Hands Gnarly Dudes Shiraz ($31.25), an intense-glass-staining wine with flavours of plum, blueberry and currant fruit.

Pair the golden fruit- and honey-scented Friulano Schiopetto Collio 2008 ($25.05) with a seafood supper. —Jennifer Nachshen
