We wouldn’t normally encourage spending your evenings lurking in alleys, but this week we are making an exception, but only because that is where the opera singers are hanging out.

Mercury Opera and Downtown Calgary present Alley Oop this Friday. The unconventional party starts with a sampling of light bites at host businesses along Stephen Avenue including Coppeneur and Home Tasting Room, before you are ushered to the alley at sundown for a mini opera performance of some of the genre’s greatest hits. The evening wraps up with a prohibition-themed after party with the performers.
