Clowning Around with Shakespeare
We’ve often said that we’d enjoy the works of Shakespeare so much more if they weren’t so darn wordy. And if all the parts were played by insane clowns.
Now we’ve finally got our wish with MöcShplat, a Clowns Gone Bad production. This “clown-noir” adaptation of Macbeth will offer a comical combo of Elizabethan text, French farce and European clowning that will have Will turning in his grave.
Warning: Not suitable for children under 12, Shakespeare purists, or people who are afraid of clowns.
From February 4–13, tickets $18, Centaur Theatre, 453 St-François-Xavier (Old Montreal), 514-845-9810, www.geordie.com
