Breton Batter

Few things are as classically French, gastronomically speaking, as crêpes. And lucky for us, La Bréhandaise has just opened to satisfy that truly Breton craving.

With its periwinkle blue walls, rustic, mismatched chairs and heavy, floral drapes, the French country décor at this little Queen Street gem whisks you to the Belle-Ile in seconds.

In the kitchen owner and Maître Crêpier Pascal Poilbout prepares the tastiest buckwheat galettes in town topped with dollops of traditional ratatouille and served with simple greens and potato salad.

For dessert, the white flour crêpe covered in thinly sliced caramelized apples and French vanilla ice cream is heavenly, as are Poilbout’s Breton cookies and Far Breton cake.

Best of all, La Bréhandaise serves brunch—just be ready for lineups from here to Brittany.
