Go Forth and Wander
In the true spirit of Camp + Quarry, take off on a summer adventure, sleep under the stars and string nature’s beauty proudly around your neck.
Vancouverite and Calgary-expat, Sarah Rankin of Camp + Quarry debuts in the form of her one-of-a-kind raw material minimalist jewellery at Purr Fine Clothing & Accessories. My absolute must-have for this season is the stunning rough citrine pendant necklace.Inspired by the unpredictable romance of the West Coast’s wilderness, these unique designs are created using striking gem fragments collected throughout Rankin’s travels from coast to coast. These designs would provoke even the most seasoned glamper to get out and really camp. —Kait Kucy

Living on the Ledge
I’m no Elizabeth Taylor, but I have enough jewellery to warrant special storage concerns that can’t be solved with those woefully small trees meant to dangle baubles on.
To keep my necklaces visible, easily accessible and never tangled, I created my own display case using a picture ledge from Ikea and cup hooks from Home Depot. Here’s how to do it:
1. Mark dots on the bottom of the picture ledge where you will place your hooks. Create two rows the length of the ledge with each dot three centimeters apart.
2. Use a nail and hammer to tap a small hole in the place where the hook will be.
3. Use that hole as a guide when you hand twist the cup hook into place. This takes a little muscle, but keep going until all hooks are in place. You’ll be able to fit 50 hooks.
4. Mount the picture ledge. Hang your necklaces from the hooks and place bracelets and rings on the ledge above.
Mine is on the wall beside my vanity, making accessorizing so much easier. —Jaelyn Molyneux

Something blue invents something new
On the occasion of its 175th anniversary, Tiffany & Co. had to suffer the same conundrum it has inflicted on its adoring gift giving public. How can we possibly top that pretty jewel filled blue box from last anniversary?
Why, fill it with a pretty accessory created from entirely new metal, of course. Move over silver, Tiffany & Co has invented Rubedo, a new metal alloy made from an exclusive combo of gold, silver and copper. It’s light and shiny and being used to craft items from the company’s classic 1837 line including padlock charms, cuffs and interlocking circle necklaces. A limited edition collection engraved with founder Charles Lewis Tiffany’s signature is available for the 2012 anniversary year.
Silver is for 25, gold is for 50 and now Rubedo is today. —Jaelyn Molyneux

Tick, tock, keep time with a colourful clock.
Swatch just released its New Gent Lacquered line of wristwatches ($75). The collection includes silicon straps in 10 different colours so that you can decide if you are a hot pink kind of girl or prefer to go bold with indigo. The signature Swatch funk comes under the clear plastic face where each of the timekeeping components visibly pop against each other in contrasting colours.

Jewellery that will floor you
Laminate went through a low period with everyone ripping it up to replace it with hardwood on floors or granite on countertops. It’s currently enjoying a resurgence in home décor, but it takes a keen, artistic eye to see the inexpensive flooring and think fine jewellery.
Devon Clark has that eye. She uses the durable, easy to wipe down material to create earrings and pendants that add edge to feminine flair. Her hand pierced designs have scalloped edges with punch-outs that are a wink to the delicacy of lace.
Matching your earrings to your countertop without committing a fashion faux pas just became a possibility. —Jaelyn Molyneux

Punk Rock Rocha
Supermodel Coco Rocha goes from muse to maker with her Coco Rocha for Senhoa jewellery collection.
The seven thick and chunky accessories were designed by Rocha to have punk rock flair while taking advantage of the beading skill of the girls who make each necklace, bracelet or earring by hand. Think layers of chains interlaced with black and gold Swarovski crystals. The pieces are handcrafted by Cambodian girls who have been rescued from human trafficking by Senhoa, a non-profit that gives the girls an education, a home and a job.
Rock a statement piece and strike a pose that is oh so Coco. —Jaelyn Molyneux

The girl with the pearl rings
I wear two simple, raw-pearl rings: one white, one a sun-bleached black. Everyone asks who made them, and I always say I can't remember. But I've had a twinge of heart, guys, and I'm ready to 'fess.
The perfectly imperfect pearls, balanced on a slender sterling-silver ring, are by Vancouver jewellery line Mindan's. She makes them in ivory, pink, grey and black; separately, they're a minimalist statement, and two together are magic. Surrounded by faddish, faux-punk jewellery, they look unfussy and—dare I say—unique.
These aren't your grandma's pearls. —Sarah Nicole Prickett

Metal Mash-up
Once a fashion faux-pas, mixing silver and gold is now an accessory all right. But what’s even cooler than a silver and gold mix-up? Answer: a metal mix-a-thon.
CoutuKitsch is a Calgary/Winnipeg mother-daughter duo behind a vintage-inspired accessories collection that includes many mixed-metal pieces. A few of my favourites are the duster earrings, made up of delicate copper, antique bronze, gold, silver, and gunmetal chains ($25) and the hand armor vintage brass cuff/ring that’s attached by the same chains from finger to wrist ($40, pictured).
The line also includes handmade scarves, cufflinks and accessories with a more delicate look for those who aren’t ready to become metal heads just yet.

Rocking Out with Rachel
Little girls are made of sugar, spice and everything nice, but as we grow up it’s good to throw a little rock and roll into the mix.
Rachel Roy’s patterned dresses, printed jumpsuits and flirty skirts have had us covered in the sweet department for awhile now, but it’s her accessories that always add a little mystique to our girly attire. Think stingray spiked pendants, slithering snake rings, skinny spike cuffs, shark tooth collar necklaces, and our favourite, the sparkly skull collection.Rock on. —MG

Something Sparkly, Something Blue
We love ourselves a pastry and window-shopping moment a la Holly Golightly, but the real thing is even better.
Just in time for Mother’s Day, and retroactive birthdays of course, Tiffany & Co. opens its first Calgary store today. Our wish list already includes the Frank Gehry Leaves pendant ($240), the Tiffany Twist bow ring (pictured, from $270) and the Avenue shopper tote ($720) in a onyx leather with a leather lining in you guessed it, Tiffany blue. —MG
