Glove love
May our fingers always be warm and able to operate our touch screen.
Having to choose between texting and frostbite is something we will never have to do again with Echo Touch gloves. The gloves have a special fabric tab in the index finger and thumb that work with touch screens to let you type or scroll. The gloves also look lovely with styles made from knits, boiled wool, cashmere or leather in colours that range from classic black to hot pink.
It’s always a win when fashion and technology work with each other. —Jaelyn Molyneux

Cold Comfort
We Canadians are a quirky and creative bunch when it comes to dealing with the cold weather. Our winter ingenuity is probably best summed up by the ice scraper mitten.
To be fair, the giant thumb-less mitten with a plastic blade sticking out one end does look a little kooky, particularly if like me you purchase one in a bold plaid pattern. But, its genius is in its practicality.
Slip your hand in one end of the goose down pocket and grab the handle of the scraper letting you scrape away while keeping your hand toasty warm.
The driver without frostbitten fingers gets the last laugh. —Jaelyn Molyneux

Smitten Mittens
Kids would sooner get frostbite than wear mittens.
Before you start gooping gloves to your child’s wee hands, consider these cleverly designed mitts from Toronto-based mimiTENS. Anna-Maria Montfort and Maria Dempster’s line of brightly coloured gloves feature Thinsulate lining, are made from bamboo and organic cotton fabric, and best of all, have extra long cuffs to help them stay on properly.
Just another mom-preneurial breakthrough that leaves us wondering, “Why didn’t we think of that?”
