A Bloody Good Time
Warning: This musical might cause mistrust of barbers and the inability to eat a slice of pie ever again. But, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is worth the sacrifice.
Vertigo Mystery Theatre is staging the 1970s classic about the 19th Century barber who returns home 15 years after he was sent away on trumped up charges. His homecoming to a murdered wife doesn’t help his penchant for revenge. He does what any irrational person would do and opens a barbershop where no one who enters leaves. It is not a coincidence that the pies at the shop below start to taste extra delicious. It’s gruesome. It’s hilarious. And, it plays at Vertigo until June 3. —Jaelyn Molyneux
