Bat Your Lashes
Bambi’s doe eyes have nothing on us after a visit to Lola Lash Bar.
The tiny studio is pretty in cherry blossom pink and creamy white and is the sister of blow dry bar Blo, both of which are accessed by the same front door. Lola will leave your eye fringe longer and fuller with single lash extensions ($90) applied while you lounge in a spa bed and nap for 45 minutes to an hour and a half. Or go for the LashDip, a semi-permanent dye treatment (starting at $50) that will have you skipping your morning mascara routine for up to six weeks.
We’ll wink to that.—Jaelyn Molyneux

Warhol Goes Pop
Dom Pérignon already has a rep as the champers of note, and now the famous champagne house has gone pop with the Andy Warhol tribute collection, a collaboration with the Design Laboratory at Central Saint Martin’s College of Art and Design.
In celebration of the three reinterpreted bottles, 100 Wines by David Walker is hosting a Canadian release party, complete with food, live art, music and a bottle of Andy’s Dom. Like Warhol's take on fame, we don't expect these bottles to last more than 15 minutes.
Tickets $500 (includes a bottle), February 8 at 8 p.m., 100 Wines by David Walker, 1109 Olympic Way SE. Calgary, 403-452-8820, www.davidwalkerwines.com

Market Soar
We used to lump grocery shopping in the same category as cleaning: it’s just something you have to do. But at the new Sunterra Market, Keynote, picking up a few staples has become our favourite pastime.
Located in the booming Victoria Crossing hood, the 30,000-square-foot shop is a three-floor gourmet mecca. On the main floor, grab a latte from the Market Café before picking out your produce, or stop in for a gelato before heading out. The second level includes a large communal space for cooking classes, including the 45-minute Lunch ’n’ Learn sessions, and on the top floor, take a seat for the made-to-order in-store meals by day, or seasonal menu by night paired with one of the 1,400 wines. There’s also a rooftop patio and outdoor grill.
Here’s to grocery lists.

Pool Party
Summer in the city and you have the landlocked blues?
Grab the bikini and head to the newly renovated poolside patio at Hotel Arts. Nosh on a crab and mango roll ($12) and sip a mojito before taking a dip in the inviting glass-tile pool. Although there’s no charge for using the pool, a minimum food and beverage cost does apply depending on the day and time.
The pool is a popular spot for private functions so check here for closures before heading out.
Cannonballs! (Just kidding.)

Closet BFF
Welcome to Apt 22, a dimly lit, narrow space that feels like going to your bestie’s pad and rummaging through her walk-in closet.
The store’s owner stocks pieces that scream L.A. cool and girly girl style, like flirty tops and shorts by Karina Grimaldi, maxi dresses by Gypsy05 and floral numbers by BB Dakota. And the best part is, you don't need an invite to hang out at this hip apartment.

Everything’s Rosy
With the first glimpse of patio season, it’s time to think pink.
De Bortoli Emeri Pink Moscato ($18.95) is our pick for the perfect summer rosé. Named after the Australian winery's matriarch, the sparkling, light-bodied rosé has a palate of tropical characters, like melon and pineapple, with a strawberry finish. It’s pale pink hue is pretty enough for any occasion and with just the right amount of sweetness, it’s perfect on its own or paired with a seafood feast.
Pink is in.

Cool Bird
A dimly-lit room filled with cool cats, clanking martini glasses and a well-edited tasting menu is what comes to mind when imagining an evening at the Raw Bar in Hotel Arts.
But this Sunday and Monday, think more family feast (only much more hip than a traditional gathering at granny's) when the lounge serves Thanksgiving dinner in style, dishing out turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing and seasonal vegetables, all for $20. As for dessert—a baked apple martini is being served.
Cheers to Thanksgiving.
Call ahead for reservations, dinner starts at 5 p.m.

Sip Art
The well-edited wine display at 100 Wines by David Walker makes for more of a gallery ambiance than wine shop.
Tomorrow, the wine boutique launches an adjoining art space appropriately christened Gallery 101 that will house the non-grape varietal type of art. First up are six local artists, including Amanda Meador (her piece pictured), who have created pieces interpreting the urban landscape.
Every six weeks a new show will focus on unsigned artists—it’s your chance to discover the next Basquiat at a steal.
Urban Landscapes opening, Thursday, May 28 (6-8 p.m.), Gallery 101, 1109 Olympic Way SE, Calgary, 403-452-8820, www.davidwalkerwines.com
