Livin' L.A. Vida Loca
May 5th, 2010
Post-Coachella, I hit the road with my gal pal Angela for a couple days of leisure in Los Angeles. Cruising Interstate 10 we pass the valley's row upon row of wind turbines. There's something oddly lovely about them.
After we check into Petit Ermitage, I meet up with a friend and former colleague from San Fran, Heidi (she keeps a very cool blog now called Hyperkult), at one of her favourite nosh spots The Village Idiot.

The next day, it's brunch at Joan's on Third. While the place is known for feeding stars, we don't spot anyone famous or infamous, but do partake of some much needed java juice. Come cocktail hour, we refuel again across town at The Thirsty Crow. Chill and reminiscent of a classic 1930s bar, it would be my neighbourhood watering hole of choice if I lived in Silver Lake.

In between, there was shopping, naturally. A new Nordstrom Rack had opened near our hotel, so we were drawn like moth to flame. Scouring the shoe racks I came across an extra high pair of heels by pint-sized Jessica Simpson. Pretty sure I could see straight to Saskatchewan with these on.
While I didn't bring those home with me, a pair of Dior sunglasses managed to find their way into my carry-on. Hmm, wonder how that happened. Delicious designer goods, you'll be the death of me!
I capped off my la la land layover with dinner at Moroccan restaurant Tagine in the faint hope of sharing couscous with part owner and personal crush, Mr. Ryan Gosling. He didn't show (that scoundrel), but the meal was heavenly nonetheless.

In the words of California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger, "I'll be back."
