Toronto Fashion Week S/S 2013: Mikhael Kale
October 24th, 2012

On our radar since he launched his label in 2007, Toronto-born Mikhael Kale joins the likes of Erdem and Jeremy Laing as Canadians we’d love to see in our closet.
Shown off-site at the grandiose Corkin Gallery in the Distillery District, Mikhael Kale’s presentation gathered the who’s who and who’s cool of Toronto, and the clothes matched the stylish crowd. Inspired by artist Nigel Scott and his “Conversations With Blue” series’ relationship with the ocean, Kale kept with a muted palette, accentuated by vibrant watercolour prints by textile designer Sarah Stevenson. Combining feminine peplum silhouettes and body-hugging lace dresses with masculine elements (such as sleeveless car coats and motorcycle jackets), the collection is an achievement in both silhouette and print mixing.
