Sponsored blog: This is how we Nike
June 30th, 2011
Like most of my girlfriends, I want to be fit but struggle with
motivation. Sometimes a new trail or a killer playlist is all it takes
to get me moving, but nothing beats an injection of fun, stylish gear to
push me out the door for a run.
My usual look (especially
in winter) is sort of Mark Wahlberg in The Fighter-esque. Think a
gigantic hoodie, oversized joggers and really anything to keep warm on a
run. But now that summer is finally here, I want light, bright pieces
that will keep me cool as I sweat it out.
Enter the new Nike Store in Eaton Centre. Open just over a month, the store feels like the
nerve center for stylish workouts. Visitors are welcomed by bright, bold
displays, pumping music and loads of super cuties that can help you
find your best fit for performance and chic.
My favourite items (in no particular order):
The Player Sports Bra -“Light” ($50).
Though Nike suggests wearing this seamless sports bra for lighter-impact
sports, I love a cross-back bra for running too because the fit tends to
be so perfect (supportive and comfortable). I wonder if Kristin Reiter
at BleachBlack had a hand in this design?

The Nike Lunarswift+ 2 ($85)
At first glance these kicks seem more style than substance, but if you’re
looking for a lightweight shoe that still has plenty of cushioning, the
Lunarswift is a good option. I might not take them out on the trails but
they look better on the streets anyway. The Lunarswift is
fully-equipped with NikePlus technology and available in lots of fun
colours.
Violet Dry-Fit Polka-Dot Tee ($35), Violet Dry-Fit Running Tank ($40)

I rarely choose a short-sleeve tee for working out but this dry-fit
polka-dot number feels like a breath of fresh air. The sleeves are just
short enough not to bug and the fitted shape even suited my long torso.
That being said, I still want to snap up one of the violet dry-fit
tanks. It is a versatile staple for cardio, yoga and weight training. The tees and tanks are both available in all sorts of colourways, I was just on a violet kick.
Men’s Hoodie ($95)
I couldn’t resist this hoodie in the men’s section. It’s like a cross
between something you might see Will Smith wearing on the Fresh Prince
of Bel Air and vintage Charlotte Hornets gear (Muggsy Bogues for life).
Dry Fit Breathable Blue Hoodie ($75), Black Capri Dry-Fit “Tight” ($45)
“Oh hi Lance, looking good. Check me out in my number one pick of the day, the breathable Dry-Fit hoodie.”
This bright blue hoodie is my must have. I want it for workouts and everyday
wear. It has those handy sleeve holes to slip your thumbs through,
vents on the back for temperature control and it fits like a glove.
I generally run in tight little shorts because I can’t stand the
possibility of chaffing. These capri-length Dry-fit running pants would
be super handy in rain or shine and I can see myself wearing them for
yoga too.
I wonder what Lance’s 10k PB is?
