Montreal Fashion Week Highlights - Day 2
February 8th, 2012
My split personality, one-part editor, one-part consumer, forces me to mention two key shows from last night: Martin Lim and Eve Gravel.
As fashion aficionados, we look at clothes through our artistic goggles. The dynamic duo at Martin Lim, Danielle Martin and Pao Lim, played with femininity and graphic art for their Fall Winter 2012 collection. The strong use of graphic lines was evidently found in pinstripes, fringe and pleats.

“The French artist Daniel Buren inspired us for this collection,” says Martin. “We love his graphic lines and colour choices.” The everyday Jackie-O can enjoy looking effortlessly chic in their tunics and sleek silk skinnies.
And, as winners of Mercedes Benz start-up, they’ve acquired the confidence to take more risks, especially with colour. Expect the unexpected with bursts of papaya, amethyst, teal and fuchsia. Bold in deed for a Fall/Winter collection.

On the other hand, there’s Eve Gravel, Montreal’s very-own sweetheart. Gravel understands her playful and girly consumer. For her Fall/Winter 2012 collection, she created an “Algonquin meets girl next door” collection with her hipster chick in mind.

Described as “Urban Wilderness”, the retro-throwback ponchos, sleeveless vests, and over-sized heritage sweater separates are topped with rachel.f fur chapeaux.
The very cozy and wearable collection is form fitting, feminine and stylish. Everything the modern urbanite wants to wear.
