How Precious

September 19th, 2009

Well, I made it. From Sutton Place to Pusateri's, from Ryerson Theatre to the Elgin, I covered the city today.

The two things that made my day were the gorgeous cupcake featured above (must experiment and make it at home!), and the screening of Jason Reitman's Up in the Air. Had I seen the film before running into him at the Cumberland, I suspect I may have had more to say to him than "...". Without giving anything away, you should bring your commitaphobe boyfriend to see this immediately. You'll thank me later!

The Audience Choice film was Precious, and I was there at the Elgin Theatre with bells on. Well, actually, I had a hat on, and a cranberry juice in hand...

This was my view for about two hours of the day...that is an actual man, not a mannequin. Creepy, mais non?

And even though I wouldn't necessarily agree with giving the Audience Choice Award to Precious (sorry Oprah!), it was all well worth it.

If you couldn't make it to the fest, films to watch out for are:

1) Glorious 39 - Romola Garai is bloody incredible in this film, and my favourite actor, Bill Nighy, gets all serious on us...

2.) Micmacs a tire larigot - Amelie + Ocean's Eleven = Micmacs

3.) Partir- Mondo French sexing, courtesy of Kristen Scott Thomas

4.) Up in the Air - The new Thank you for Smoking, with air miles.

5.) Castaway on the Moon - Hello Korea, and thank you

And now, only a year until it starts all over again.

That means 180 days to catch up on sleep, 100 days to shop for party outfits, and 80 days to figure out next year's must-sees...

Can't wait!
