The Casting Couch

June 15th, 2009

Every once and awhile you've got to do something crazy spontaneous. So while most folks were hunting for Easter eggs, I decided at the last minute to board a jet plane to small town, Pennsylvania to audition at an opening casting call for upcoming Ryan Gosling and Michelle Williams indie flick, Blue Valentine. Why? Why not.

While flying out of New Jersey on our Bombardier headed for the Penn state we spot a glimpse of NYC as the sun sets on it (hopefully not a omen of the sun also setting on my dream of starring opposite the Gos). Landing in the quiet Scranton airport, we can't help but think of The Office. Unfortunately, no time to grab an imaginary brewski with the Dunder Mifflin crew.

The next morning we arrive in Honesdale and hit the line-up of other local hopefuls. We ended up waiting five hours (!), but we had a blast, so the time went fast.

My partners in craziness, sister Petrina and BFF Vanessa, who drove up from Philly to join us in our spontaneous pursuit. We're ready for our close-up, Mr. DeMille...

We made the cut and got sides to read. My inspiring, emotional, life-changing lines all revolved around prices (I auditioned for the check-out girl). "That's $58.42..."

And here I am reading on the casting couch with Ry-Ry. Don't I look fetching in my fishnet top...

While waiting to catch our flight back to YVR, my sis found me a special treat. Considering the Twilight Saga is shooting in our neck of the woods (pun intended) and my pallor, perhaps I'd have a better shot getting cast as a vampire....
